Looking up at a picture of daddy on Grandma’s wall, Jordan asked me softly this weekend, “Mommy, why did daddy get hurt?”
His conversation in reference to his father always stuns me. His verbal comprehension surpasses what I would imagine a three year old to possess.
Tonight Jordan and I read our first grief book together called, “When Dinosaurs Die” by Laurie and Marc Brown. I have been researching material related to loss and grieving for children and finally discovered one to be appropriate for our situation. I was thankful to find that this book is honest and pertinent while sensitive to the young heart. I could tell the book captured Jordan’s attention as he connected to the topic. At his young age he knows more than most about the subject of losing someone you love.
