Sometimes I feel like I live in a Dr. Seuss world in the middle of Who-ville along with little Cindy-lou. But, at my house her name is Miss Maddi.
Little Miss Maddi pretended to read us a book for bedtime, “The birds were outside tweeting and the owl was outside owl-ing.”
“You mean hooting.” Jordan says from the bunk above.
“No! Owl-ing!” she continues without leaving room for discussion.
Closing the book she announces, “I can cough and hiccup at the same time, Mommy!”
“What talent!” I say. “Goodnight, Love.”
With two little hand imprinting my cheeks, she gives me a kiss and states, “But, Mommy…if you don’t stay in my room…I’ll miss you!”
She is skilled at dramatic emphasis. I love the performance. I love the whimsicalness.
“Mom, I love you forever and ever…for my whole life,” Jordan tells me.
Forever and ever is a mighty long time. I love the extent. I love the magnitude.
A friend emailed me the words from the Dr. Seuss book, “Oh the Places You’ll Go.”
Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes
You can steer yourself any direction you choose.
Maybe Who-ville isn’t such a bad place to be.
Let me take note. Let me see.
Child One and Child Two are loving characters,
through and through.
Some days are crazy…many indeed.
But, only with crazy can we really succeed.
