My devotion this morning reached my heart directly. The theme was about blessings; appropriate for the Thanksgiving holiday soon to be celebrated. The author, James Macdonald, probed, "What’s the purpose of our heart pounding another beat? Only that we would discover more deeply the love of God in this short period of time called life; only that we would embrace him more fully and live for him more completely. Isn’t that why we are given another day?
He continues, "You can’t be puffed up and proud when you know that what you enjoy is not the result of anything you’ve done, but rather what you received from God’s hand alone. This reality makes us more humble and more tender to the things of God, as well as more thankful for his blessings."
