A Day Well Spent

For Christmas, my mother-in-law gave me a beautiful framed poem for my office. She said it was a gift to read when I write. I have it propped by my computer where I can easily see it.

As I reflect on the words, they are wonderfully fitting for the end of the year and the start of a new one:

A Day Well Spent

If you planted hope today in any hopeless heart

If someone's burden was lighter because you did your part

If you caused a laugh that chased a tear away

If tonight your name is mentioned when someone kneels to pray

Then your day was well spent.

This will be my prayer for 2011. Planting hope in a hopeless heart. Trying to make someone's burden lighter by extending my own helping hand. Sharing smiles and hugs to those who need it most. Praying for those I love and especially those who are hard to love and hoping they are praying for me.
