Are We On His Side

"God's most blessed gift to His family is the gift of life; He sent us the Prince of Peace as a babe in a manger. I've said that we must be cautious in claiming God is on our side; I think the real question we must answer is, Are we on His side?" — President Ronald Reagan

I spoke with a long-time friend last night on the phone for over an hour. It’s one of those friendships where we don’t talk for months (the amount of months that add up close to a year) until one of us decides too much time has elapsed and picks up the phone to call and instantly all the months that flew by us in a frenzy are erased as if no time ever passed. We immediately pick up where we left off and I’m reminded why she is so important in my life.

She told me last night that her and her husband are going into full time ministry. I asked if that scared her and she told me yes and no. There is the element of supporting their family and there is another element of complete and utter trust in God to provide. And I found my heart swelling as I listened to her…I found myself saying I want to live like that.

God is ever around us. God is ever at work. It isn’t a question about what we are doing. The question is what is God doing? And the bigger question is will we walk with him?
