One of my readers sent me information about the Fresh Air fund, a not-for-profit agency providing kids with a breath of fresh air.
THE FRESH AIR FUND has provided free summer vacations to more than 1.7 million New York City children from low-income communities since 1877. Nearly 10,000 New York City children enjoy free Fresh Air Fund programs annually. In 2010, close to 5,000 children visited volunteer host families in suburbs and small town communities across 13 states from Virginia to Maine and Canada.
The reward? Sharing the simple things and seeing the smile it brings.
If you are interested in hosting a child or have a friend who may be interested, please pass along the information. The Fresh Air Fund is still looking for 1200 families to make two week commitments to host children this summer.
Change a child’s life in two weeks. It can happen!
