Crossing the Finish Line

My parents completed their 250 mile bike ride this past week in Washington, D.C. My mother-in-law, Bonnie, and I had the privilege to see them cross the finish line. What an exhilerating accomplishement.

My mom hugged me and said, "Jennifer, when I didn't think I could make it any longer I'd think of Shawn and his sacrifice and tell myself that my pain is nothing like what he endured for our safety. That kept me going."

How beautiful, the strength of the human spirit. My parents set out on a challenge. They hoped to complete their goal, but couldn't be certain. They crossed the finish line with renewed spirits. They conquered their quest. They achieved what they set out to do.

I'm inspired.

I hope this inspires you to take a challenge this summer. Try something you never thought you could do. Find a reason to keep going. Cross your finish line!
