The Road to Hope

Have you ever been proud of your parents? Fully inspired by something they are doing that not the average parent would attempt?

That's how I feel about my mom and dad and their recent announcement to join the Law Enforcement United Bicycle Tour this upcoming May 2011. They will be riding 250 miles from Virginia to Washington, D.C. in honor of officers who have died in the line of duty. Proceeds from their ride go to Concerns of Police Survivors (COPs) and the Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP).

Over 18,250 officers have lost their lives in the line of duty, nationwide. Of that number 213 have been from Minnesota and unfortunately in 2010 two more were added to that roster. My parents will ride in memory of my late husband, Shawn Silvera, who died September 6, 2005. Mom and Dad, I am humbled and uplifted by your ambition and dedication.

My parents are raising $2500 for this cause. They are looking for 25 people to donate $25 each. Will you be one of those 25?  You can make a financial contribution to their ride by sending a tax-deductable check made out to: Law Enforcement United. Donations are due April 1st and may be sent to:

Thank you for joining them in honoring our fallen heroes!
