I went to the store tonight to wander around. I needed to get out of my house and take a break. I didn’t have a list for anything specific, but tried to use shopping as a substitute for refuge. Instead of shelter however, I felt uncomfortably exposed. I was caught in the midst of normalacy. Everyone around me was performing the weekly ritual of “running errands”. Not me. I was drifting about trying to see if I could buy purpose. But, they don’t sell “good reason” at Walmart nor Target. I tried both. I am chasing after meaning and finding that it doesn’t seem to be on the shelf. Sense is not in stock.
