"I saw a sign at a gas station. It said "help wanted". There was another sign below it that said "self service". So I hired myself. Then I made myself the boss. I gave myself a raise. I paid myself. Then I quit." –Steven Wright
I had breakfast this morning with a friend from many years back. We talked through an assortment of subjects, jumping around to fill in the gap of time passed. We discussed the idea that nothing in this world satisfies, nor will it ever, as this world is not our home. Not food, not entertainment, not careers. Nothing will ever be able to completely satisfy each part of us.
My friend has a brilliant way of quoting life. I explained to her that sometimes I over analyze my world. She shared with me a quote from Lincoln, “If I had more time I would have written a shorter letter.” There is wisdom in brevity. Just as there is comfort in having breakfast with a good friend.
