Am I Good

“Does the sun ask itself, “Am I good? Am I worthwhile? Is there enough of me?” No, it burns and it shines. Does the sun ask itself, “What does the moon think of me? How does Mars feel about me today?” No it burns, it shines. Does the sun ask itself, “Am I as big as other suns in other galaxies?” No, it burns, it shines.” —Andrea Dworkin

Validation is a common struggle. It is easy to hear my kids asking, “Watch me!” and “Mommy, come here!” Still, isn’t it true that even as adults (especially as adults) we also crave attention, the desire to be noticed, the need to be recognized.

One thing I’ve noticed about purpose, however, is that when we are doing what we are compelled to do or passionate about–we tend to forget about the need for approval. There is a confidence that exists with purpose. There is a natural reassurance that surrounds someone living intentionally. I came across a site that shows this natural healing power of confidence to embrace the life in front of us. Time doesn’t heal. Action does. Purpose does. If you are feeling all alone visit: www.secondfirsts.com. Be Brave. Find Hope. Be You!
