Why is it that by the time August comes, we realize summer is whizzing by and that when anything passes with such racing speed, we often put on hold some of our favorite things to do–like writing for my blog!

I have many highlights to share about a recent trip to San Diego where Steven and I spoke at the Soaring Spirits Loss Foundation Conference, back-to-school-shopping with one child who crosses everything off her checklist and another child who would rather be building a tree fort and my last minute decision to run a half marathon!

Come back next week to read more.

This week, let me invite you to the 6th Annual Shawn Silvera 5K Run to be held this Saturday, August 27th at Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton. It is a festive, family day with many activities for children including a 50-yard Daisy Dash. The run starts at 8 AM and there is still time to sign upat www.shawnsilvera.org. All proceeds this year will benefit Kids Against Hunger and MN COPS.

My entire family would love to see you there. It’s a great event to wind down summer or at least whiz along with before summer ends.
